Usage OverviewThis Privacy Policy explains how Usage Overview and Usage Companion (“the apps”) handle information. The short version: the apps are local-first. We do not operate a Usage Overview account system or a server that receives your credentials or provider usage data.
Information the apps handle
To provide the app’s core function, the apps may handle the following information on your devices:
- Credentials you choose to add or pair. These can include access tokens, API keys, or other provider-issued credentials used to request your usage information.
- Account configuration. This includes account names you set, the provider selected, optional endpoint details, and presentation preferences.
- Usage information. This includes limits, remaining usage, reset times, and related response data returned by a provider.
- Purchase entitlement. Apple’s StoreKit framework tells the app whether an Apple subscription or trial is active. We do not receive your payment card number or Apple Account password.
Where information is stored
Credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain. The iPhone app’s usage cache, account preferences, and widget data are stored locally in the app’s container or its protected App Group container. Usage Companion runs on your Mac only when you open it and uses temporary, expiring QR pairing codes for supported pairing flows.
The apps do not send credentials or provider usage data to a Usage Overview-operated server. The iPhone app sends a request directly to the provider associated with the account you chose. Usage Companion may communicate with the local developer tool or provider needed to prepare a pairing session.
Device permissions
Usage Overview asks for permissions only when a feature needs them:
- Camera: to scan a QR code shown by Usage Companion or another supported pairing flow. The app does not record or upload camera images.
- Local network: to read usage from an optional collector running on your own local machine, if you choose that setup.
- Notifications: to notify you about selected usage resets or thresholds, if you enable notifications.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising. The apps do not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.
When you refresh a connected account, the relevant credential and request are sent to that account’s provider so the provider can return usage information. That provider’s own privacy policy and terms govern its handling of the request. Apple processes subscriptions and purchases under its own policies.
This website and support
This website does not intentionally use advertising or analytics cookies. Standard hosting infrastructure may process limited technical information, such as IP address and browser request data, to deliver and secure the site.
If you email support, we receive the email address and the information you choose to include so we can respond. Do not send credentials, API keys, QR codes, recovery codes, or unredacted screenshots containing them. We keep support correspondence only as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the request and maintain support records.
Your choices and deletion
You can remove an account in Usage Overview at any time. Removing an account deletes the credential and stored usage cache associated with that account from the app. You can disable notifications in iOS settings and revoke camera or local-network permissions there as well.
For subscription questions, purchases and cancellations are managed through your Apple Account. Deleting the app does not by itself cancel a subscription.
Children’s privacy
The apps are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect product, legal, or operational changes. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will show when it was most recently revised.
